Glencoe Summer 2026: What Actually Changed on Your Home Turf This Year

If you have lived in Glencoe for more than a season or two, you have a summer routine. Beach pass in the glove box, a Guildhall reservation on the calendar, one Writers Theatre show, one Sunday at the Botanic Garden, fireworks on the 3rd, parade on the 4th. That routine is going to run into a village that has quietly rearranged itself.

Three separate institutions changed the terms of engagement at almost the same moment this year. The Park District rewrote how you get to and park at the beach. The Golf Club opened a new clubhouse with a new restaurant operator. And the Botanic Garden and Writers Theatre both anchored their summer calendars to the America 250 anniversary, producing programming denser than either usually offers between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Any one of these is easy to miss. All three at once is worth a fresh look at the season.

The May 23 change most residents have not adjusted for

Beach passes work the way they always have. The drive in does not.
